Women's Informatization Status in Asian-Pacific Region
Informatization is make every activities possible with more efficiency utilizing production, distribution structure. It means not only the development of science technology but also the huge changes through our whole life. Women informatizartion means to improve extend their social rights and portions by learning adopting properly in this rapidly changing todays society.
From CommerceNet's survey of internet users in the world, America(2000), 49.6% of North American, 30% of European, 16% of Asian-Pacific people are able to access and use the internet. One of the research organization "eMarketer" estimates that active internet users will increase 38% per year until 2004 in Asian Pacific area. In case of the year 2000, the number regular internet user in Asia-Pacific was 49 Million, 21% of the all online users in the world and it is estimated that users will increase 38% every year by year 2004.
Now Japan internet users occupy 36% Asian internet users, but at the end of 2004 China will get that position.
From each organizations, the statistics of internet users differ. Few shows the rate of women internet users. Men usually used the internet and women are gradually on the way of get use to that also. It decresed from 95% to 60% of men using the internetn through 1994 to 1998 , while women users are rising gradually. Otherwise, 48.5% women uses the internet from within a year which shows it started recently. But it also means that women users get larger portion in near future.
Though the women informatizing rate is increasing every year, women are only on 1/3 step of informatization from that of men in South Korea. Women have to have acrtive open mind to become more informatized to cope with the speedly changing todays world.
